FAMILY

ENGAGEMENT

WORKING WITH PARENTS TO SUPPORT THEIR STUDENTS.

The resounding and recurring theme in our conversations with both schools and parents is that there needs to be more focus on involving the whole family unit throughout a child's education. Across all of our programs, we aim to bridge the gap between schools and parents. Insight into a child's home life can be a key indicator of their individual barriers to success, and providing holistic support, such as addressing cultural and linguistic differences, is a critical part of our mission.
We work with schools to explicitly center the student and family voice in all programs. We provide a flexible, structured continuum of services to foster growth, but the student is the ultimate decision-maker about the resources and paths that make the most sense for them. We are committed to learning directly from families how to best advocate for unmet needs and address institutional barriers. All of our programs are underpinned by a “2Gen” approach. The “2Gen” approach fosters family well-being by working with both youth and the adults in their lives. It centers the whole family to create a legacy of educational success and economic prosperity that passes from one generation to the next.
