The world renowned Young@Heart Chorus returns to Springfield with a performance reimagined as a tribute and memorial celebration honoring the life and legacy of Evelyn Maria Harris. Evelyn was a towering artistic presence whose career spanned decades as a member of Sweet Honey in the Rock, a Grammy nominated composer, and a revered vocalist rooted in gospel, spirituals, and African American musical traditions. Her work blended artistry and activism, using the power of the human voice to tell stories of justice, resilience, and joy.

Developed during an extended residency at the HOPE Center for the Arts, this special program brings together the Young@Heart Chorus, Springfield youth, and special guest artists to honor Evelyn’s extraordinary career and the values she embodied generosity, mentorship, and fearless self expression.
